In this review, I would like to pay special attention to Saint Petersburg mini-hotels because to my mind they are more appropriate and comfortable for Western traveler.

By far, 5-star hotels in the city are of exceptional quality and deliver the best in services for their guests, but they are too expensive, while mini-hotels are cheaper and offer almost the same high standards in rooms and services. Nevertheless, some luxury hotels will be also reviewed here.

Several nice mini-hotels in Saint Petersburg belong to Anabel chain and offer high value for the price. These are 4- and 3-star hotels with room rates ranging from $80 to $110. At "Anabel" hotel, located on Nevsky Prospekt, 88, there are 7 rooms only, but they are specially designed to provide the ultimate comfort with much light and air.

The service is available 24 hours a day; sauna and Internet are additional comforts. All rooms come with fully equipped bathroom en-suite, mini-bar, phone, TV and CD, some rooms are equipped with fire-place. Amulet hotel is the newest hotel in Anabel chain, located on Malaya Morskaya Street, 7. Perhaps, among all Anabel hotels, it has the most convenient location. The best museums and attractions including Winter Palace (the State Hermitage), the St. Isaac Cathedral, the museum of the famous Russian poet Pushkin, Kazan Cathedral, Bronze Horseman, and Central Naval Museum are within easy reach. The windows open on the best views of the city such as the Neva Embankment and the Spit of Basil’s Iseland.

The inexpensive motel “Voyage”, located on Pulkovskoye highway, 107, is another representative of Anabel chain. The motel provides 22 exceptionally clean rooms in the most ecologically clean district of Saint Petersburg. 15-20 minutes by car or bus from Moskovskaya metro station, motel “Voyage” is set close to all historical suburbs of Saint Petersburg including Pushkin, Pavlovsk, Gatchina, Strelna, and Petergof.

One of the newest and most sophisticated luxury hotels in the city is Novotel Center Hotel, located not far from Nevsky Prospect. Some of wonderful Novotel amenities are gymnasium, massage parlor, Turkish baths and high quality restaurant serving Mediterranean and Russian cuisines.
